Ayurvedic Reflexology is the dynamic integration of traditional Ayurvedic hand and foot techniques with contemporary reflexology. The philosophy of Ayurveda states that there is no separation between the physical body and the mind. Ayurveda has a spiritual basis, and encourages individuals to embrace healthy spiritual practices. Massage of the feet and hands has a special place within Ayurvedic tradition.
Ayurvedic Reflexology is dynamic, easy to apply and can be easily integrated into existing bodywork practices. The direction of energy (prana) flow within the body is respected and followed during the application of Ayurvedic Reflexology.
Attendees of this class learn to identify and work vital energy centers known as Marmas. Some of the most important marmas used for healing purposes occur in the limbs.
The traditional metal kasa bowl adds a new dimension to the procedure. The Ayurvedic Reflexology techniques are described as “kinder to the (practitioner’s) hands”.
Sharon Stathis’s workshops are practical (hands-on) in their orientation. They introduce exciting new ways to work the feet and hands. Comprehensive course notes are provided in the form of a course manual.
Reflexology knowledge is NOT a prerequisite for attendance, though some bodywork experience is preferred, along with an understanding of the basic Reflexology Fundamentals. For bodyworkers without this knowledge, a short excerpt from the SMART™ 1 manual provides the required information (visit http://www.feel-good-goods.com.au/page14/styled-7/files/reflexology-fundamentals-a4-2017.02.01.pdf).
Sharon Stathis (coming to us all the way from Brisbane, Australia!) will instruct two classes while she is in Seattle: SMART™ 1 and SMART™ 2, which will be held over the course of three days (SMART stands for the Stathis Method of Ayurvedic Reflexology Therapy).
Visit ayurvedicreflexology for more details. These classes cost half the listed price to review if you’ve taken them before. Class price does not include additional merchandise (kasa bowl, videos, etc).
