After reducing the hours as a full time registered nurse, I was searching for an alternative way to provide care without the first line of defense being the introduction of chemicals to treat the body rather than allowing and assisting the body to heal itself. Having already studied the ancient art of Jinshin Jyutsu and firmly rooted in the effectiveness, I also knew this modality was not familiar to many and may be rejected as a viable practice. I felt led to Reflexology, but did not want to pursue Massage Therapy as a prerequisite. A school opened in Knoxville, TN and I was accepted and enrolled and finished the course at Healthflex School of Reflexology and sat for the state exam in 2007. Having passed this exam I was immediately asked to join a practice with Massage therapists. Eventually, I began my own practice and have been fortunate to introduce reflexology to our community. In my private practice, I offer ear, hand and foot reflexology.
I had the pleasure of marketing our hospital geriatric center to referring facilities in 3 different states. I was also able to market Reflexology at health fairs and alternative care venues.
In our community, I have enjoyed our local theater group, both as a board member and actor. I am passionate about our environment and sit in the membership of our local environmental group. I am married, with three grown sons and enjoy all the grandmotherly privileges.
